About Wilton Youth Services

Mission

Wilton Youth Services advocates for the emotional and social developmental needs of Wilton youth and their families by coordinating and providing programs and services designed to promote positive youth development and healthy family life.

History

Wilton Youth Services began in 1988. Following a needs assessment, it was determined that there was a need for a youth services coordinator whose main function would be to coordinate the schools, police, and youth-serving agencies on youth-related issues.

The first youth services coordinator was hired part-time in September 1988 as part of Wilton Social Services with the Wilton Youth Council and the Commission on Social Services acting as advisory boards. Due to increasing demands a second part-time position was added in 1995.  In 2002 a positive youth development initiative, Vision 2020, was formed due to increased program demands of the Wilton Youth Council.  Vision 2020, Wilton Youth Council and the Commission on Social Services all act in advisory capacity to Wilton Youth Services.

Services

Services available to Wilton youth and their families include: short-term counseling and referral services, crisis intervention, program development, advocacy, and case management.
