Anyone who suspects that a child has been or is going to be neglected or abused is encouraged to call the above number.
Abuse is defined as any incident in which a child is assaulted physically, sexually, emotionally, or mentally, and it was NOT AN ACCIDENT. A neglected child is a child whose basic needs are not being met. Also, you can call to report any instance of child abuse – even if you’re not sure who the abusers are or if you’re afraid your child has been abused and you don’t know what to do. Anyone making a report can remain anonymous.
Other forms of abuse, such as sexual assault, also occur. In many of these cases, victims may be too scared to confront the abuser, embarrassed, convinced that it was their fault, or experience conflicting emotions preventing them from seeking support. If you are being sexually abused, or have been sexually assaulted, please read the information on the following organizations. Fortunately, they will be able to help you while being sensitive to your needs, as they have been with the many who have come before you.
